Self Defence Courses
In today's world being aware of and practising good general personal safety awareness, coupled with simple, effective and easy to remember physical self-defence techniques is essential. Our courses therefore focus on both the physical techniques as well as fine-tuning your overall general personal safety awareness knowledge.
The reality of self-defence is that you do not need to be either a martial arts expert or sporty. Our courses are well structured and teach simple but extremely effective techniques that can reduce the risk of suffering serious injury from an attacker, greatly increase the odds of preventing a rape, an abduction, a serious assault and even possibly save your life.
People around the world are often heard to say: "I wouldn't know what to do, I am not a fighter. If someone attacked me I will give in and pray I come out with as little harm as possible to myself and hopefully I am still alive." The reality is that most people have this view not because they cannot defend themselves but because they do not know how to defend themselves or they have poor safety awareness habits. Avoidance of dangerous situations is hugely important in ones overall safety, with physical self-defence being a last option but an important final element for your overall personal safety capability.
Research shows that 80% of people who fight back get out of a situation! The courses we offer are therefore very realistic. Consequently, our courses are unlike many other self-defence courses offered as we focus on the practical empowerment of youngsters and adults providing them with general personal safety awareness as well as the tools to deal with a violent or an abusive situation. Individuals leave our courses feeling they have grown in confidence and their capability to protect themselves.
Did You Know? 350 knife crimes are committed every day in England and Wales 1 out 4 women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime Assaults by grevious bodily harm with intent rose by 29% between April and June 2008 in England & Wales Statistically 4 out of 5 women who fight back get out of a situation! Men feel equally insecure about their safety as it is a myth men know how to fight back Do you know how to fight back to prevent a serious assault, a rape or possibly save your own life if attacked?
What does the course cover?
Our self-defence courses are designed for the everyday person. All our courses cover personal safety awareness in ones daily life as well as focusing on easy to remember and effective physical self-defence techniques.
The courses main focus is based on the RAT (Rapid Assault Tactics) Programme. The RAT system was developed by Paul Vunak to effectively defend ones' life in the most efficient and safest manner possible. The RAT enables average men and women to quickly defend themselves against a larger aggressor.
It has three basic concepts:
1. Entry 2. Pressure 3. Resolution/Termination of conflict
The Level One course covers the following: Identification of risk situations and avoidance Teaching participants practical & highly effective self-defence skills Identifying target areas on an attacker's body Victim Mentality Educate participants that they have choices when they are faced with an attack situation Understanding the violent mind Build confidence in your own capabilities Information on & the avoidance of the alarming rise of drinks being drugged to rob or sexually assault individuals (this applies to both men & women 11% of drug rape reports are made by men)
How many workshop levels are there?
There are three levels. Each level is 4-hours in duration and is a separate independent module. Each module is a building block. Students can proceed to the next building block as and when they wish. It is not essential to do all the blocks but obviously the more one trains ones physical self-defence techniques and the more ones personal safety awareness is reinforced the better.
All Levels focus on general safety awareness and the reinforcement of good personal safety habits. This information cannot be repeated and reinforced enough. This part of the course is tailor made for each individual based on lifestyle, maturity and age and gender vulnerability. The workshops are scenario based rather than lecture based.
Each Level is 4 hours in length and is usually conducted over 2 sessions.
Level One is focused on: The Fence (Safe Distance) Verbal Diffusions Practical self defence techniques. Applied 'Real Life' attack scenarios.
Level Two reinforces the foundation tools & techniques learnt in Level One. Level Two then goes further, teaching you to apply the techniques with quicker response times and effectiveness.
Including: Use of head, knees and elbows (To find a quick and effective escape) Ground Techniques (Escapes, Rape Defence, Control, Biting & Scratching). Applied 'Real Life' attack scenarios for Level One and Two.
